These deep seated lumps typically develop where there are creases in the skin that cause the skin to rub together. Arm pits, the groin, under the breasts, and between the buttocks are common areas for hidradenitis suppurativa to occur. The lumps occurring from  this skin condition are usually painful and may break open, draining a foul smelling puss. In many cases, the lumps will be connected by “tunnels” under the skin.
